Lot Essay

Cope is perhaps best known for his part in the decoration of the Houses of Parliament and the large historical, literary and biblical subjects he exhibited at the Royal Academy. Cope studied at Sass's School and entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1828. He studied in Paris and in Italy and was elected Royal Academician in 1848.
