AN AUSTRIAN 'MORGENSTERN', IN 17TH CENTURY STYLE; AND TWO FLAILS
19th Century
The first with wooden barrel-shaped head inset with three rows of iron spikes, bound with iron top and bottom, the top with tall central spike, and on its original pine haft with four long iron straps; the second with wooden tapering rectangular head bound by four longitudinal writhen iron bars, inset with a pyramidal short spike at one end, bound with a central band inset with further pyramidal spikes, and the head pendant on a short chain, on its wooden octagonal haft with four long iron straps; and the last with pendant head formed as a pair of curved horn-like blades with a pierced ring-like blade between: on a chain and on a modern wooden haft.
