A SILVER-MOUNTED ARAB SHAMSHIR BELONGING TO SAÏD ALI, SULTAN OF COMORES
Dated 1261 AH (circa 1845 AD)
With curved European sabre blade, plain silver crosspiece, chased gold pommel, the sides of the grip faced with decorated gold strips bound by a decorative gold wire knot, ivory grip-scales, and in its original scabbard with three silver mounts (the leather covering incomplete, the chape damaged).
