AN 18-BORE WILLIAM IV PERCUSSION COASTGUARD PISTOL; AND TWO 28-BORE PERCUSSION SEA SERVICE PISTOLS
The first circa 1835-37; the remaining two dated 1855
The first with 6 1/8in barrel struck with both Enfield and Victorian Ordnance view and proof marks, bevelled lock engraved 'WR' crowned, stamped 'Tower' on the tail and fitted with safety-catch, regulation mounts, and stirrup ramrod; the remaining two with sighted 6in barrels, Ordnance view and proof marks, flat locks with linear borders and engraved 'VR' crowned and 'Tower', one stock stamped with the supplier's name 'Swinburn & Son', the other 'Tipping & Lawden' and 'J & S Poutney', and with regulation mounts, belt hooks and stirrup ramrods.
