A Bronze model of a tiger and crocodile, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
depicting a fierce confrontation of the two predatory animals, the crocodile, emerging from its swirling waters, open mouthed displaying rows of sharp teeth, the tiger standing upon raised rockwork looking down upon its challenger, both naturalistically modelled, the tiger with patinated stripes, the crocodile with textured skin surface -- 25¾in. (65.5cm.) wide.
