Decorated at Augsburg, probably by Anna Elisabeth Wald, the ground reserved with two white shaped oval scalloped panels, one painted with two Orientals seated at a low table, the other with two Orientals by steaming vessels on plinths, one of them kneeling, within shaped quatrefoil gilt cartouches edged with purple-panels, gilt and red scrolls, the domed cover reserved with two panels of birds on terraces below a knop finial (wear to tip of spout, handle terminal, finial and border of cover, further areas of slight wear, areas of discolouration to gilding adjacent to pot rim and cover rim)

Anna Elisabeth Wald was Johann Auffenwerth's second daughter, and her work is discussed by Siegfried Ducret, Meissner Porzellan bemalt in Augsburg, 1718 bis um 1750 (Brunswick, 1972), Vol. II, pp. 40-42. He illustrates pieces decorated with similar Oriental scenes, in particular pls. 91-95, some of which are documentary and some of which he attributes to her. Ducret does not refer to gold ground pieces, which would appear otherwise unrecorded in her oeuvre. As the mounts must have been completed by the year of Paul Solanier's death in 1725, it makes it possible to date with more precision a piece decorated by Wald.
