Gouache heightened with gold on paper, a group of students wearing brightly coloured gold-embroidered robes sit on a blue floral carpet, before them the bearded Imam kneels and gives a lesson, to the left of the composition various figures look out of windows and door frames, two panels of calligraphy on gold ground arranged in four columns above and below the main section of the miniature, bottom left hand corner with small tear not affecting the miniature, small areas of fading or flaking of paint, verso with 20ll. of black nasta'liq arranged in four columns with gold floral intercolumnar margins and gold and polychrome illuminated heading
