Valentino Besarel (1829-1902) was patronised by the Royal Houses of Europe and worked extensively for the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII. He was awarded the Grande Médaille d'Or at the Paris 1878 Exposition Universelle, subsequently becoming Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur. The churches of Este and Conselve, near Padua have works by him.
