NICHOLAS I AND THE DECEMBRISTS -- Donesenie sledstvennoi kommissii. [Report of the Committee of Inquiry. St. Petersburg:] Military Press of His Imperial Majesty's General Staff, [1826].

8° (231 x 140mm). 95 pages. (Rather soiled and dampstained, a few minor tears.) Stitched, possibly as issued (spine slightly worn).

A very rare pamphlet, thought to have been printed in 100 copies, with the results of the investigative committee inquiry into the uprising of 14 December 1825. The report was signed by War Minister Tatishchev, Grand Duke Mikhail, and Generals Golenishchev-Kutuzov, Chernyshev, Benckendorff, Levashov and Potapov on 30 May 1826. The Imperial decrees were signed on 10 July with the severe sentences imposed on the leaders: 5 to hang and 121 banished to Siberia for life. On the final pages of this pamphlet, 89-95, are listed the leading protagonists under their secret societies. See Fekula 2027.
