AN AUSTRIAN SILVER-GILT MOUNTED ROCK CRYSTAL DISH
VIENNA, CIRCA 1875, APPARENTLY UNMARKED, ATTRIBUTED TO HERMANN RATZERSDORFER
Shaped circular and with the borders applied and enamelled with fruit and foliage in pale blue, green, purple, dark blue and red and inner borders of red and white strap-work, the central boss bordered by winged cherubim masks, the outer border applied with grotesque lion and monster masks, and with oval cartouches flanked by winged dragon headed serpents, the panels cut with winged herms and foliate scrolls
12¾ in. (32 cm.) diam.
