A BLACKISH-BROWN-GLAZED RIBBED JAR, GUAN
SONG/JIN DYNASTY, 10TH-13TH CENTURY
The globular body applied with slender ribs of trailed white slip that appear buff color under the lustrous blackish-brown glaze that falls in an irregular line atop a thinner brown glaze just above and on the foot, with a pair of similarly ribbed, tapering strap handles spanning the short neck that rises to the lipped rim, the interior also covered with a thin brown glaze, with five narrow spur marks in the bottom, the interior of the circular foot also covered in dark brown glaze
