Lot Essay
The kakiemon kiln was started by Sakada Kakiemon in the 1660s in the Nangawara Valley in Arita. The bowl has the refined, elegant and vibrant enamelled design typical of the kiln's heyday between 1670 and 1710. The enamels are on the fine, milky white porcelain body produced by the kiln and known as nigoshide in Japan.
