Rare mousquet à mèche et à rouet allemand (Nuremberg)

Important canon lisse en fer, en trois registres avec bouche saillante, tonnerre octogonal rainuré, daté '1592' et frapppé de différents poinçons dont celui de Nuremberg et la marque du fabricant Hans Stopler, un éperon (Neue Stockel 1056, 1058), platine frappée d'un autre poinçon de Nuremberg et du poinçon semblable à celui de Hans Dentzel (Neue Stockel 2806), rouet extérieur, couvre-bassinet avec ressort, chien gravé d'une tête de monstre, crosse en noyer, sous-garde en fer, baguette en bois postérieure, avec clé pour armer le rouet. A rare German (Nuremberg) combined wheel-lock and matchlock musket
Dated '1592'
With substantial three-stage swamped smoothbore barrel with turned bulbous muzzle, the fluted octagonal breech-section dated '1592' and struck with various stamps including the Nuremberg mark and the maker's mark of Hans Stopler, a spur (Neue Stockel 1056, 1058), iron tang, plain lock struck with a further Nuremberg mark and a maker's mark similar to that of Hans Dentzel (Neue Stockel 2806), exposed wheel with pierced bracket, sprung pan-cover with button release, and cock engraved with a monster-head, walnut three-quarter stock, iron trigger-guard, and later wooden ramrod ; together with a wheel-lock key.
