Decorated in gold hiramaki-e on a roiro-nuri ground with repeated scrolling karakusa and chrysanthemum blossoms, with gilt metal fittings similarly engraved, both lacquer and fittings emblazoned with triple-aoi mon, each side with sliding door fitted with silk blinds and upward-opening roof panels, the interior with papered sides decorated in ink and color with landscapes featuring the "Three Friends" motif, pine, bamboo and plum, along with cranes and bushy-tailed tortoises, all on a gold ground; with matching lacquered carrying pole
