A gilt bronze figure of Amitayus
Tibeto-Chinese, 18th Century
Seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base, the hems of his voluminous dhoti incised with a foliate motif adorned with a flowing sash over both arms, an elaborate beaded belt and various necklaces, the face with downcast eyes flanked by lotus earrings and flowing ribbons surmounted by a jeweled tiara, the hair pulled into a high chignon, the base sealed with a double-vajra

Lot Essay

The superb modeling with broad shoulders and exquisitely detailed jewelry and beaded rims to the base is particularly noteworthy and would suggest an early 18th century dating.
