Lot Essay

I Was Lord Kitchener's Valet was a clothing institution in 1960s Swinging London, frequented by Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix. Peter Blake claims to have got the inspiration for the Sgt. Pepper album sleeve when he was walking past the shop with Paul McCartney.
