AN INSIDE-PAINTED AGATE SNUFF BOTTLE
WANG XISAN, BEIJING, PRIOR TO 1970
The bottle is of flattened, rounded form and painted on the interior on one side with a man seated next to a stream and dipping his feet in the flowing waters. An inscription above states the bottle was painted in Beijing and is followed by a small oval seal, possibly reading yin (seal). The reverse cleverly painted using the dark brown markings of the stone with a scene of a flowing stream in which a boy carrying a stick approaches a water buffalo.
2 1/16 in. (5.2 cm.) high, glass stopper
