Contemporary black leather, the sides and the spine compartments all centred with the Russian Imperial eagle in gilt, gilt edges, green moiré silk doublures (front joint with short split, corners lightly rubbed). Provenance: Alexander II of Russia (bookplate, shelf-label) -- 'Printed in France' (small import stamp).
FIRST EDITION. ALEXANDER II'S COPY, IN A BOLD CONTEMPORARY BINDING, of Troubetzkoy's appeal for pan-Slavic unity and justification for Poland's place in the Russian fold.
