An early copy of this work on the science of Hadith copied within 12 years of the author's death, Arabic manuscript on paper, 253ff., each folio with 21ll. of sepia naskh script, titles and important words picked out in red, with red roundel verse markers outlined in sepia, with occasional marginal notes, the first folio a slightly later replacement, colophon signed and dated, reverse of f.1 with copious later added notes, in scuffed reddish brown morocco binding; together with a pair of Qajar lacquered book covers, with figural and floral decoration

The colophon indicates that this work was copied in Shiraz, at the Dar al-Hadith al-Muzaffari. A later added attestation of reading gives the date of Sunday 4 Sha'ban AH 739. Abu Bakr Muzaffar al-din Qutlugh Khan bin Sa'd, a Salghurid ruler, reigned over Shiraz between 1226 and 1261. He or his father, Sa'd I bin Zanja Abu Shuja' Muzaffar al-din (R.1198-1226) might have been responsible for the construction of the Dar al-Hadith where this manuscript was copied.
