Manuscript on paper, each panel of rectangular form with a single line of bold nasta'liq script on a ground of spiralling gold vine with fleshy leaves and polychrome flowering buds, each line with the signature of Mirza Agha Khamsa, laid down between variously coloured paper margins on polychrome mounts, some staining and repairs
Each 10¾ x 36?in. (27.3 x 93.5cm.)

These panels can be compared to a set of calligraphic panels by Mirza Ghulam Riza (d. 1886-87 AD). They are written in a similar jali nasta'liq script and arranged in a similar composition (Mary McWilliams and David J. Roxburgh, Traces of the Calligrapher, Islamic Calligraphy in Practice, C. 1600-1900, Houston, 2007, pp.84-86, fig.58).
