MARX, Johann Reinhard. Doron basilikon sive Corona Imperii Romani Ferdinando IV. Frankfurt: Hermsdorff, 1653. 4° (227 x 180mm). Engraved portrait on title verso, 18 engraved emblems. (Marginal dampstaining throughout.) Contemporary purple velvet, sides centered with gilt Imperial eagle and corner ornaments, gilt edges, later spine label (lacking ties, spine worn and repaird, extremities faded). Provenance: Richard Hancock (bookplate). FIRST EDITION, IN A CONTEMPORARY PURPLE VELVET BINDING.
Together with three other 17th-century volumes: Plempius, a sammelband of works including Musius sive rhythmi (Amsterdam: 1618); Cats, Tooneel van de Mannelicke Achtbaerheyt (Middelburgh: 1622) with engravings by van de Venne; and an untitled suite of plates forming an alphabet (incomplete?).
