A JADEITE CARVED PLAQUE MOUNTED AS A NECKLACE
LATE QING DYNASTY
One side of the flat plaque is carved with a mythical beast striding amidst scrolling clouds above a squirrel, a bat in flight and peaches. The reverse is carved with fish swimming amidst large lotus leaves in a pond. The mottled stone ranges from bright emerald to paler green tones. The plaque is attached to an 18k gold lotus-form fitting inset with multiple small diamonds weighing approximately 1-1.5c; with a 14k gold link necklace.
The jadeite plaque 2½ in. (6.5 cm.) long
Provenance
Acquired circa 1900-1960s, and thence by descent within the family to the present owner.
