De Castro Jorge, Malvasia 1879
Orginal stencilled bottles. Original corks and damaged wax capsules
Levels into neck
This wine was from the inheritance of Joao Martins da Silva, 1860-1940, a ship owner and founder of the Madeira Navigation Agency. The Malvasia 1879 was bottled in 1943.
Many notes. Sweet, concentrated nose of caramel, orange peel, leathery and floral tones. Intense and well balanced. Touch of Cognac. Honey cake. Smokey aromas. Intensely sweet attack, classic Malvasia, plums and passion fruit, ending with fresh crème brûlée aromas. Soft aftertaste. Delicate, linear, sweet wine.
Last tasted in April 2015 in NY
