In 2019, A. Lange & Söhne celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Lange 1 with a remarkable series of ten limited editions dedicated to different members of its most emblematic watch family. The present Little Lange 1 '25th Anniversary' formed the third chapter of this commemorative series and was produced in a limited edition of only 25 pieces.
Its 36.8 mm white gold case frames an elegantly balanced argenté-coloured solid silver dial, enlivened by deep blue inscriptions, blue date numerals and blued steel hands. The anniversary theme continues on the reverse, where the beautifully finished movement is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. The intermediate-wheel cock is elaborately hand-engraved, with its recessed decoration filled in blue to echo the colour scheme of the dial. It is furthermore adorned with the recurring signature of the anniversary collection: a relief engraving of the Lange outsize date displaying '25'.
The Little Lange 1 retains all the defining characteristics of the celebrated Lange 1 within more compact proportions. Central to its design is the manufacture's signature outsize date, inspired by the historic five-minute digital clock of Dresden's Semper Opera House, which provides exceptional legibility while forming an integral part of the watch's distinctive asymmetrical layout. Unlike the standard Lange 1, the Little Lange 1 dispenses with the pusher at 10 o'clock, instead employing a recessed corrector integrated into the caseband to advance the date.
