the flat hood with ebonised spiral-twist pilasters to the angles, the trunk door decorated with inhabited floral marquetry, urns and caryatids, with lenticle glass, with borders of arabesques to the sides, the 11¾in. (30cm.) square brass dial signed on the chapter ring Fr. Gregg Russel Street Covent Garden, twin cherub and coronet spandrels and foliate engraving to the sides, the matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring and calendar aperture, ringed winding holes, the five pillar movement with inside countwheel strike; plinth and hood rebuilt -- 82½in. (210cm.) high
