An English Close-Helmet From A Funerary Achievment
Third Quarter Of The 16th Century
With one-piece skull (holed at the base of the right side) with prominent roped comb pierced for a funerary crest-spike, pointed visor with roped stepped double vision slits and lifting-peg on the right, fitting into the prow-shaped upper bevor with roped and recessed upper edge, lower bevor pivoted at the same points, the face-opening with sunken roped border, two pierced studs on the right for pivot-hook fastenings (missing), and single gorget-plate at front and rear (lower plates missing), heavily rust patinated throughout, with traces of funerary gilding
