Heavily reeded overall, the padded rectangular shaped back, sides, buttoned seat-cushion and pair of bolsters covered in close-nailed dark-red leather, the toprail centred by a fan and foliate motif flanked on each side by S-scrolls, with serpentine arms, above a reeded seat-rail, on ring-turned reeded legs, brass caps and ceramic castors

A heavily-reeded and exhuberantly-carved rosewood sofa, possibly Irish, was sold anonymously, Christie's South Kensington, 1 October 1997, lot 347, and another with reeded seat-rail, scrolled arms, and foliate-carved toprail was sold anonymously, Sotheby's London, 21 February 1997, lot 237.
