A LACQUER WRITING BOX (SUZURIBAKO)

The square box decorated on the cover in gold and iroe takamaki-e, kirigane, kimpun and aogai and glass inlays with a three-clawed dragon in clouds on a ground of waves in reddish-brown lacquer, the underside of the lid decorated in gold and iroe takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, kirigane and aogai inlay with attributes of the seven gods of good fortune including gold sack, staff, handscroll and a gourd against a muranashiji ground, the interior fitted with two removable implement trays and an inkstone tray and a silver mizuire in the form of a flaming jewel
