THREE CERAMIC PORTRAITS OF JEWISH MEN
19th/20th century.
Comprising a bowl printed in black after Rembrandt with a portrait of Menasseh ben Israel on a cobalt ground, the wide border in the style of Italian Renaissance maiolica with panels of blue strapwork on an ochre ground, 10in. (25.4cm.); a composition portrait bust of Dr. Theodor Herzl, on integral square socle inscribed with his name in English and Hebrew, 7in. (19cm.) high; and a composition portrait bust of Shalom Aleichem, similarly truncated, named in Hebrew and glazed in ochre, 6.3/8in. (16.2cm.) high; together with a porcelain plaque painted with a Tyrolean lanscape of figures outside a lakeside cottage in the mountains, 4 x 6.3/8in. (10.8 x 16.2cm.), within wood frame. (4)
