The shaded fox-brown field scattered with minor motifs around polychrome stepped panels containing stylised flowerheads on either side, in a shaded border of facing angular S-motifs, inner hooked vine stripe, areas of repiling

Lot Essay

This unusually long carpet is a development of a design which is more frequently found in a small rug format (Herrmann, Eberhart: Seltene Orientteppiche IX, Munich, 1987, no.7, pp.30-31).
