by Jean-Joseph Barrière (fl. 1763-1793), marked, Paris, 1766/1767, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Jacques Prevost 1762-1768, engraved with inventory numbers 131 and 613
Oval box, the cover, sides and base with panels of engine-turned horizontal wavy reeding, the lid centred by an oval reserve enamelled en plein and depicting a seated street musician and his son training a dog to dance to the sound of his flute, painted en grisaille on a pink ground, within a fluted border, with a translucent blue enamelled basse-taille laurel crown above and translucent green enamelled basse-taille leaves below, the burnished gold borders decorated en taille d'épargne in basse-taille translucent green and blue enamels with bunches of grapes and vine, the four side dividers similarly enamelled and engraved with baskets of flowers
