Each of typical form, painted front and back en grisaille with a dancing nymph reserved against the blue ground gilt with oeil-de-perdrix within a border of yellow and iron-red dots and a further border of anthemion (minor wear to gilding and grisaille painting)--9¾in. (24.8cm.) high (2)

Lot Essay

The present vases are an interesting combination of Antique form with Sèvres style decoration. Vases similar in shape, based on that of a Greek marriage vase, were marketed contemporaniously by Wedgwood in a variety of materials.
