A PAIR OF FLINTLOCK BOX-LOCK PISTOLS BY J. PROBIN Circa 1780
With brass octagonal turn-off barrels, one numbered 1, and each fitted with spring-bayonet on the right, border-engraved brass actions signed within an engraved rococo trophy on the left side, engraved thumbpiece safety-catches also locking the steels, folding triggers, and flat-sided walnut butts inlaid with silver panels finely pierced and engraved with flowers and scrolls, London proof marks (one bayonet-spring missing and one steel-spring worn).
