A PORTABLE WRITING BOX AND STATIONERY BOX (KAKESUZURIBAKO)

Composed of a rectangular writing box set on a deeper, rectangular compartment for writing paper which are decorated with an overall landscape of Mount Yoshino with a waterfall, river, hills and cherry trees in bloom, rendered in brilliant gold takamaki-e, okibirame, togidashi and keuchi on an equally lustrous nashiji ground, the landscape continued to the underside of the lid and the lower interior and paper compartment and both bases matching nashiji, the writing box fitted with a removable tray containing a rectangular inkstone lacquered in the same nashiji and a silver mizuire cast in the form of a boat which is set in a silver boat-shaped saucer
