Lot Essay

Sapper William Henry Lobb was born in St. Austell, Cornwall and attested for the Royal Engineers as a Private in January 1856, aged 18 years. Subsequently qualifying for his rare three-clasp China Medal for sevices with 10th Company, R.E., he was advanced to Sapper in October 1859. Lobb was discharged at his own request in February 1877.
