                                            TWO GERMAN SMALL-SWORDS WITH GILT-BRONZE HILTS 
Each third quarter of the 18th Century
The first with slender blade of flattened diamond section with blued and gilt decoration over one third of its length, the hilt with boatshell guard, short quillons, and solid grip, cast and chased in relief with shells and diagonal and fan-shaped gadrooning; the second made for a boy, with tapering blade of flattened hexagonal section retaining traces of etching at the forte, the hilt similar to the first but with single side-loop (worn, side-loop broken)
