Lot Essay

For another similar example of the huntsman, see Rainer Rückert, Meissener Porzellan (Munich, 1966), no. 971, where he quotes the factory records: Eberlein, December 1743, Einen Jäger, wie er seine Büchse laden thut, auch di Jagd-Tasche mit Rephühnern auf dem Rücken hat, und einen Hund neben sich, in Thon verfert. A similar pair of figures are illustrated by Len and Yvonne Adams, Meissen Portrait Figures (London, 1987), col. pl. V. A similar example of the huntsman was sold in these Rooms on 30th June 1986, lot 33, and a similar pair of figures were sold in these Rooms on 1st December 1980, lot 182 (where his companion was holding a falcon).
