The globe of 50cm. diameter made up of two sets of hand-coloured gores and calottes laid onto sphere, the colours especially vivid due to 1790s gores having been overlain to update the globe for Cook’s voyages; these were subsequently removed, the titular cartouche ‘GLOBUS TERRAQUEUS Secundam Accuratissimas descriptiones Adornatus Cura Societatis Cosmogr Upsalensis Manu Andreæ Akerman Reg:Soc:Scient:Ups:Sculptoris. […]’ supported in graduated brass meridian with hour ring, sitting in hand coloured engraved horizon ring on stand by Gottlieb Iwersson
