This December, Classic Week returns to Christie’s London, offering a highly anticipated celebration of creativity and cultural legacy across seven landmark auctions.
The series begins with The Winter Egg and Important Works by Fabergé from a Princely Collection, featuring the legendary Winter Egg — a marvel of craftsmanship that has twice broken the record for Fabergé works at Christie’s.
Next, the Old Masters Evening Sale showcases European masterpieces from Gerrit Dou, Bernardo Bellotto and more, followed by the Old Masters Day Sale, which includes rare etching plates from William Blake’s Songs of Experience, including The Tyger.
The Sam Josefowitz Collection: Graphic Masterpieces by Rembrandt van Rijn – Part III offers a unique glimpse into Rembrandt’s printmaking genius, including the last privately held impression of Arnout Tholinx, Inspector.
Antiquities spans the ancient world, featuring outstanding treasures such as a rare Thracian gold funerary mask, while Valuable Books, Manuscripts and Photographs presents scientific and literary rarities, including highlights from the Royal Society of Medicine.
Finally, Groundbreakers: Icons of Our Time celebrates thrilling pieces across technology, music, cinema, natural history and literature. Headlining the sale is Spike, an exceptionally preserved Caenagnathid dinosaur. Measuring 199.5 x 198.5 x 67 cm, it is one of the most complete Caenagnathid specimens ever discovered.
Join us for a journey through history, imagination and artistry.
