拍賣簡介

This New York marquee week, Christie’s presents its dedicated Design auction — an international celebration of 20th‑ and 21st‑century design at its most refined.

The sale brings together exceptional works by leading designers and artists from around the world, from iconic American figures such as Harry Bertoia to French visionaries including Diego Giacometti, Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouvé, alongside celebrated Brazilian masters such as Joaquim Tenreiro. Together, these works illuminate the international scope and enduring influence of modern design.

Anchoring the season is Defined Space: The Collection of Henry S. McNeil, Jr. offered as a continuation of his visionary engagement with Minimalism, extending from fine art to the decorative arts. McNeil’s extraordinary collection reveals a deeply considered dialogue between art and design, brought vividly to life through masterworks of George Nakashima furniture and elegant silver by Henning Koppel for Georg Jensen — highlights from his home now coming to auction.

The sale is further enriched by Property from a Private New York Collection, featuring seminal works by André Dubreuil, Axel Salto, Ingrid Donat and Line Vautrin, each representing the height of craftsmanship and innovation within their respective practices.

Completing the offering is a distinguished selection of works by Tiffany Studios, timeless expressions of artistry and design excellence. This includes the The Boyd Family Memorial Window (The Falls) from the Second Congregational Church in Winsted, Connecticut. This exemplary window features a cascading waterfall in the foreground, a rare feature of Tiffany's landscape windows, and sprawling palms among lilies and irises. The window was created in 1898 and has been with the church since it's installation in 1899, presenting collectors an incredible opportunity to acquire a 19th century masterpiece by the artist. Other highlights include beloved lampshade models such as the Laburnum, Bamboo, and Geometric and Turtle‑Back Tile.

Together, these collections make the Design auction a defining moment of the season and a centrepiece of New York’s marquee week.
