Picasso Ceramics returns for Christie’s 20th/21st Century Art auction series this May, with a wide-ranging selection of brilliant and innovative ceramics by the modern icon.

Pablo Picasso’s interest in the ceramic medium, sparked by his move to the south of France in 1946, blossomed into an enduring passion, resulting in a 25-year collaboration with Georges and Suzanne Ramié, founders of the renowned Atelier Madoura. This fruitful partnership produced over 600 editioned designs of all shapes, styles, and sizes, alongside numerous unique works.

Inspired by both tradition and modernity, these ceramics represent one of Picasso’s most experimental mediums.

Emma Boyd

Specialist, Head of Online Sales | Impressionist & Modern Art

Emma Boyd is a Specialist in the Impressionist & Modern Art Department and the Head of Online Sales, including the industry-leading biannual Picasso Ceramics auction. She also oversees research and marketing for the 20th Century Evening Sale. She started her career at Christie’s in 2019 in the Impressionist & Modern Art Department and has since held a variety of positions with both auction and private sale teams. Most recently, she was responsible for cataloguing the marquis 20th Century sale, including the single owner collections of Paul G. Allen, S.I. Newhouse, Mica Ertegun and Robert and Patricia Weis. Prior to joining Christie’s, Emma received her BA in Art History, Studio Art and Italian from Middlebury College.
