A large early 20th-Century Czech floor-standing armillary sphere,
a brass plaque on the base for BOH. ZUKRIEGEL MECHANIK v PRAZE, the 23¾-inch (60.4cm.) diameter sphere with a 2 3/8-inch (6cm.) diameter turned wooden Earth ball at the centre, the yellow-painted steel polar axis rod held within red-painted polar, trpid and equatorial rings, two green-painted colures and a yellow-painted ecliptic, turning within an alternately dark and light green-painted square-section steel meridian, gimablled to move within the cream-painted square section steel equatorial and meridian, both graduated in degrees (some minor paint loss and detail loss from repainting), supported on a tall brass-capped turned fruitwood column and circular plinth base with maker's plaque -- 61½in. (156.2cm.) high
