You’ll need excellent communication and teamwork skills and know how to organise a varied workload. You’ll be able to contribute ideas, solve problems and think for yourself.

This Programme is specifically designed for those who have NOT pursued high education, but have completed or are in the process of completing their A-Levels (or equivalent). Therefore, we regret that if you have graduated with a BA, MA or higher qualification, you will not be considered for this Programme.
About the lot
I chose to do an apprenticeship as it provided me with the opportunity to continue my education, whilst also being in full-time employment and gaining first-hand experience. This was important to me as I wanted to take a slightly different path to what I had initially imagined, and the Business Administration Level 3 is applicable to many areas of a business.
My favourite part of working within the Client Services team is how diverse the day can be, whether it be the collaboration and fast pace of a sale or simply being surrounded by beautiful art. I work alongside many passionate, talented and supportive individuals, and I truly enjoy every day because of this.
I chose to apply to Christie’s as they are an internationally recognised organisation, who have been established for over 250 years. The experience that comes alongside this is invaluable, and I feel very fortunate to be part of this.
When I left college I knew that university wasn’t for me but I wanted to continue learning and gain further qualifications. An apprenticeship gave me the chance to build on my strengths, put my skills and experience in other work environments to good use and build my confidence in the work place. Learning as you go and putting that into practice on a daily basis is a rewarding way of working.
A highlight for me would be working and attending the auctions. I had never been to an auction before joining Christie’s and being in the room when a top lot is sold is an amazing experience. I have really appreciated the chance to work with people from around the world, who all a share a passion for their work and the industry.
The opportunity to work in a globally recognised and respected organisation was something I couldn’t miss. I appreciate that Christie’s values the contribution of all staff in all roles regardless of their position within the organisation, it was important to know I could make a difference. This has been an amazing experience and I’m so pleased to be staying on at the company in a new role and the next stage of my career.
I chose to do an apprenticeship because it gives you skills and experiences which you can apply in the real working world. Apprenticeships offer the opportunity to learn on the job, whilst earning a salary. As an apprentice, you are under supervision from professionals which is very helpful because you learn skills from expert teachers. You also get a qualification which is very useful for self- development and can be a substitute to a university degree depending on the level you choose.
My favourite thing about working at Christie’s is that no two days are the same. The nature of the company is very dynamic and interesting. Every day brings its own unique challenges, and it’s fun to see where your day will go. My colleagues are also very supportive and friendly, so it’s quite a business to be at.
I’ve always preferred the idea of going straight into work rather than studying at university, and choosing an apprenticeship helped me to achieve that. Gaining first-hand work experience whilst working towards a qualification seemed like a great opportunity to have a head start in a career pathway. University isn’t suited for everyone, apprenticeships are definitely a more practical route to gaining skills, industry knowledge and secure employment.
Being involved with the behind-the-scenes prep for sales creates a sense of excitement on a daily basis. Every day is a different experience, as you can’t anticipate what intriguing works will be brought in next, or what unheard artists and artworks you’ll come across. A Christie’s auction will be mentioned in the news, and you think ‘hey, I’ve worked on that consignment! It really is a reputable company with amazing values, and I feel honoured to be a part of it.
I’ve always known that I wanted to work in the art market- not necessarily as an artist, though. With Christie’s, the operational side of the business is very diverse and allows opportunities for vacancies other than specialist roles. Christie’s is the first in their industry to offer apprenticeships, which gives young people like myself the chance to get involved in career pathways within a world-renowned organisation.
