A RARE ENAMELLED AND GILT ARMORIAL PLATE
CIRCA 1740
Finely enamelled at the centre with a coat-of-arms enclosing a figure treading tea, a helmet surmounted by a European merchant inspecting the leaves in a basket, within mantling, and above the motto LABOR IPE VOLUPTAS [sic], within gilt spearheads in the well and a delicate border of bold gilt scrolls interlaced with grisaille peacock, hound, owl and fighting birds amongst trophies linked by a floral garland
