Christie’s Presents ‘The Royal Academy International Exhibition of Chinese Art 1935–36: A Commemorative Tribute’.

Honouring the landmark 1935–36 London exhibition, in collaboration with Daniel Eskenazi, alongside the launch of his new publication ‘1935 The International Exhibition of Chinese Art’, authored by Regina Krahl and Sarah Wong.

Open to the public from 22 October to 6 November 2026 during Hong Kong Asian Art Week, the exhibition brings together an exceptional group of nearly 15 masterpieces across a wide range of collecting categories, all of which were showcased in the original landmark 1935–36 Royal Academy exhibition in London. This commemorative tribute exhibition, together with the launch of the new publication, reflects the breadth, ambition and cultural significance of the original exhibition, inviting collectors, scholars and enthusiasts from around the world to revisit this pivotal moment in the global appreciation of Chinese art.

Audrey Lee (李仲妮)

AVP, Specialist

Chinese Ceramics & Works of Art

Audrey Lee is an Associate Vice President and Specialist in the Chinese Ceramics & Works of Art department at Christie’s. She joined in 2012, beginning her career in New York before relocating to Hong Kong in 2022. Over the past decade, Audrey has contributed significantly to the development of Christie’s Asian art sales. She led the department’s first global eCommerce sale and has played an integral role in presenting several landmark collections, including Robert H. Ellsworth, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Fujita Museum, Palmer Family, Wang Xing Lou, MQJ, and Ai Lian Tang- all of which achieved outstanding results. Audrey also serves as an auctioneer for Christie’s.

Born in the United States and raised in Taipei, Audrey holds a Bachelor of Arts in History of Art from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master’s degree in the History of Art and Archaeology of East Asia from SOAS, University of London.

Marco Almeida (安偉達)

SVP, Senior International Specialist, Head of Department & Head of Private Sales

Chinese Ceramics & Works of Art

Marco Almeida is Senior Vice-President and Senior International Specialist, and Head of the Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art Department at Christie’s Asia Pacific. He brings over two decades of experience in the auction industry, having begun his career in 2001 and joined Christie’s London in 2008. After several years in London, he relocated to Hong Kong to lead the department in 2021. In addition to his departmental role, Marco also heads private sales for the category across the region, driving sales and securing major consignments.

Marco specialises in Imperial porcelain and jade carvings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, and has been instrumental in bringing significant private collections to market. Notable sales include the Heveningham Hall Collection of Classical Chinese furniture (Hong Kong, 2021) and the Butler Collection of 17th-century porcelain (Hong Kong, 2022). Under his leadership, the department has achieved several 100% sold sales and secured market leadership in Hong Kong, including its strongest autumn season since 2017 in 2023.

Born in Brazil and educated in Europe, Marco is fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and Mandarin. He holds a Master’s degree in History of Art and Archaeology from SOAS, University of London.
