A SUJIBACHI-KABUTO [HELMET]
Late Edo Period (19th Century)
The sixty-two plate russet-iron bowl with heavy suji [ridges] very crisply made, the peak and the crest holder also in russet iron, the mabisashi [peak] and fukigaeshi [turnbacks] with nawa- fukurin [roped edging] in gilt copper, the leather covered fukigaeshi [turnbacks] with a mon [crest]; five tier russet-lacquered Hineno-jikoro [close-fitting neck-guard] of kiritsuke-kozane [imitation lamellae] in dark blue kebiki-odoshi [close-spaced lacing], lining undisturbed
