The Nonesuch Dickens, one of 877 copies. The original steel-engraved plate by Hablot K. Browne (“Phiz”), set into a uniform cloth box with a letter of authenticity signed by the Deputy Chairman of Chapman & Hall, is “The Warden’s Room” from Pickwick Papers.
25 volumes, octavo (255 x 160mm). Engraved title vignettes and plates, facsimile wrappers from the original parts, including the Nonesuch Dickensiana prospectus volume and the original steel-engraved plate in a clam-shell cloth box. Original publisher’s buckram, each volume in a different color, black morocco spine labels lettered in gilt, top edges gilt (occasional light rubbing to extremities).
