Iconic pieces sold at Christie’s include Wood and Rock by Su Shi, which achieved HK$436.6 million / US$59.5 million, making it the most expensive object ever sold by Christie's in Asia. Zhang Daqian’s Temple at the Mountain Peak sold for HK$209.1 million / US$ 27 million, the second-highest price ever achieved for the artist. The Song of the Pipa Player by Fu Baoshi, one of the most important works by the artist, fetched HK$204.8 million / US$26.3 million in a standalone sale.
Christie's has had the great honour of presenting works from various notable private and museum collections, including Six Dragons by Chen Rong from the renowned Fujita Museum collection, which realised US$49 million, 40 times higher than its low estimate, and the Chokaido Museum collection, which was 100% sold and fetched over five times its original estimate. These achievements demonstrate our success in working with large-scale collections.

As International Specialist Head of Chinese Paintings, Kim Yu is responsible for conducting appraisals and overseeing the bi-annual sales of Chinese paintings in Hong Kong, as well as working closely with colleagues in New York and Europe to further develop the market for Chinese paintings. Mr. Yu began learning traditional Chinese painting at the age of 15 in Taiwan as an apprentice. He studied under Sun Yunsheng, who was a pupil of Zhang Daqian. Mr. Yu is very knowledgeable in the styles of different classical painting schools. Mr. Yu joined Christie’s Taiwan in 1998, assisting with business-getting, appraisals, exhibitions and auction details. In mid-1999, he joined the department in Hong Kong, focusing on property management, catalogue editing and departmental business.Carmen Shek Cerne (石嘉雯)

Carmen Shek Cerne is Specialist in the Chinese Paintings Department in Hong Kong and Head of Sale for Chinese Contemporary Ink. She joined Christie’s in 2009 as part of the Associate Specialist Training Program. As part of the team Carmen focuses on client advisory and business getting in Hong Kong and overseas; she is also responsible for research and catalogue production. Prior to joining Christie’s Carmen was Assistant Curator at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum at the time when the museum first opened its doors to the public in 2005. Carmen has lived in Italy and the UK, and she graduated from University College London with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ancient History and Social Anthropology.- Responsible for sourcing, sale curation and catalogue production, Amy works closely with local and international colleagues for the global development of Chinese Paintings market. She focuses on client advisory and research, and has developed strong relationships with private collectors, museum curators and trade clients across regions and sale categories. Amy joined Christie’s in 2009 as Associate Specialist Trainee. She began her career in the art world in Europe, working at Didier Aaron in London and another international auction house in Paris. She worked at HSBC in Hong Kong before moving to London to complete her M.A. in Fine and Decorative Arts at Sotheby’s Institute of Art. Amy speaks fluent English, Cantonese, Mandarin and French.
