Christie’s long and illustrious history with Arms, Armour and Sporting Guns dates all the way back to James Christie’s first auction in 1766, which included a small number of firearms.
Since then, Christie’s has had the privilege of selling exceptional pieces from famous collections including Herr Richard Zschille (1897), Sir Guy Francis Laking (1920), Clarence H. Mackay (1939) and more recently, from the Rothschild Collection (1999), the world-famous W. Keith Neal Collection (1995, 2000 and 2001) and the Raglan Collection (2014).
Today, specially selected objects can be found within our curated Decorative Arts auctions across our London, New York and Paris salerooms. From the finest medieval swords and renaissance armour to antique and modern sporting firearms, Christie's showcases items of quality, rarity and exceptional provenance that span centuries of world history.

Eleonora Pontiggia is a Sales Coordinator for the Classic Art Group, based in London. Eleonora joined Christie’s in 2020 in the Old Master Paintings department before moving on to work with the Estates, Appraisal & Valuations team as a Valuation Coordinator. In 2024 she joined the Classic Art Group as Sales Coordinator working primarily with the Antiquities and Ceramics departments. Eleonora holds a Master Degree in Art History and Art World Practice from Christie’s Education with a particular focus on English and European Decorative Arts.
