A BYZANTINE DEDICATORY TERRACOTTA RELIEF TILE FOR BISHOP MARCIANUS

Rectangular, with moulded decoration comprising a central Chi-Rho flanked by Alpha and Omega, two rosettes at the base, a column at either side surmounted by a semicircular arch decorated with shell motif, the arch flanked by two dolphins, an inscription on the left reads "SALVO EPIS(COPO)" and on the right "MARCIANO", repaired
15½ x 9¾ in. (39.4 x 24.8 cm.)
